Each day, the Red Cross needs to collect about 12,500 blood donations to meet the needs of patients at about 2,500 hospitals and transfusion centers across the country. Every day, more than 24,000 people receive assistance from the American Red Cross — that’s about 1,000 people helped every hour of the day. This includes disasters in the community, communication and community services to veterans and the military, as well as lifesaving first aid training.
