KCCC would like to thank your company for participating in this year’s games by offering FREE educational sessions. Whether you are gearing up for the games or staying healthy throughout the rest of the year, there will be a topic of interest for everyone. A full list of educational choices with their scheduled dates can be found below. Don’t miss out on these FREE opportunities for your company! Food and beverages are not included, just the speakers for the educational sessions. All sessions will be held virtually on Microsoft Teams. Sessions from KCCC staff will be recorded, others from guest speakers are not eligible for recording. If you see a session or speaker that you would like to schedule for a private session for your work group, let Alison know and she will connect you.
*Participants are to register from the links for each session below to get the link sent to them and added to their Teams calendar. Registration closes the day prior at noon for each session, a minimum of 10 is required for a presentation to be held. Sessions run Feb 1st-June 30th.

Do you sit at a desk regularly or spend too much of your free time sitting? The team at FIT will lead you through movements and stretches to help reduce the muscle tension created from sitting. Whether it's your hips, back, neck or even wrists, this presentation will equip you with tools you can utilize throughout your day to help combat sitting.

There is a significant amount of evidence that demonstrates a direct relationship between what we consume and our physical and mental well-being. March 11th, 11:00AM-12:00PM. Beyond Burnout: Understanding, Preventing, and Reclaiming Wellness. Jessica Doane, KC Resolve. Burnout is more than just stress—it's a signal that something needs to change. This interactive workshop offers a compassionate and practical exploration of burnout, especially as it impacts those in service-driven roles. Together, we’ll learn how to identify early symptoms of burnout, explore the factors that increase susceptibility, and reduce the shame and stigma that often accompany it. Through discussion, reflection, and simple strategies, participants will walk away with tools to protect their well-being and sustain their work with greater clarity, resilience, and purpose.

We'll talk about the health, economic and community benefits of shopping locally, where you can find local food near you, and share other ways to support local farmers and strengthen our local food system.
March 31st, 10:30AM-11:15AM. Beyond the Break Room: Curating Art in the Workplace. Angi Hejduk, Johnson County Park and Recreation District. Workplaces are full of walls—but very few of them tell a story. This 30-minute Lunch & Learn introduces a practical, approachable framework for transforming offices, hallways, and shared spaces into viewable art galleries that reflect organizational values, engage staff, and connect organizations to their communities. Drawing from real-world experience in public art administration, nonprofit leadership, and cross-sector partnerships, this session demystifies the process of bringing art into the workplace - without requiring large budgets or art-world expertise. Mindset is and how that mindset can impact their professional and personal lives. Yes, and... is a powerful tool that can positively influence our relationships with others and ourselves. Come discover how two simple words, Yes & And can change the way you respond and think in a world that is constantly telling us "No" and "Yes, but..."
April 14th, 12:00PM-1:00PM. The ultimate low back warm up. Krista Schoutko, Fit Muscle & Joint Clinic. Back injuries can be debilitating and yet are often so common when starting a new activity. In this presentation the team at FIT will take you through movements to help increase muscle activation throughout the lumbar spine, reduce injury and improve performance. You will be equipped with exercises you can use prior to working out or engaging in activities to help keep you moving and feeling great!
April 22nd, 11:30AM-12:30PM. Coordinator Huddle: Races, Track and Feedback, KCCC Staff Join the KCCC team so we can help you prepare for what to expect at the upcoming events for the track and swim meets along with Tug. If extra time allows, we’d love to hear from coordinators and get feedback on the season so far. This session is designed for all Company Coordinators.
April 23rd, 12:00PM-12:45PM. The Buzz on Energy Drinks: Unpacking the truth about them. Chelsea King, K-State Extension Office. Energy drink consumption is on the rise, particularly among adolescents and young adults. These drinks are often marketed to increase focus and performance, and to give a boost of energy. But what is really inside the can? Join us in November to learn more so you can make informed decisions about energy drink consumption.
April 30th, 12:00PM-12:45PM. Strategies to Reduce Stress and Anxiety. Tonya Williams, Garmin. Mindfulness cultivates present-moment awareness, helping you observe stressful thoughts without reacting, reducing anxiety’s grip, and promoting calm by engaging your body’s relaxation response for better stress management and improved well-being. By practicing mindfulness regularly, individuals with stress and/or anxiety can learn to manage their symptoms more effectively and improve their overall well-being.
May 12th, 11:00AM-12:00PM. Prediabetes & Type 2 Diabetes Prevention. Anne Hayse, Johnson County Department of Health and Human Services. Join us for this session to learn how healthy eating, physical activity, and simple lifestyle changes can help you lower your risk of, prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. You’ll also leave the session with ideas on where to find more support for the worthwhile pursuit of a healthier you.
May 20th, 12:00PM-12:30PM. Finding Humor and Joy n a Stressful World. Dayna Gowan, Improvly Speaking. The world can be a stressful place. There's so much going on globally and in our own personal lives that it can be difficult to find anything joyful or humorous these days. However, humor requires mindfulness, presence, and letting go of control and perfection, and those skills can also help lower and decrease our stress levels. Don’t worry - this presentation will not be focused on making you the office clown or comedian! In fact, you don’t have to think of yourself as a funny or humorous person to find the joy and fun in everyday life. This session will focus on the relationship of humor and stress and will provide tools and strategies to help you find the fun/funny in everyday life.
June 10th, 12:00PM-12:30PM. Cooking Confidently, Building Meals Without a Recipe. Chelsea King, K-State Extension Office. Learn how to create easy, balanced meals without following a recipe. This session introduces a simple cooking formula to help you mix and match ingredients with confidence. We’ll also cover easy substitutions for common ingredients and demonstrate how one formula can be used to create a variety of build-your-own style bowls or stir-fries. Participants will leave with practical tips to cook more flexibly using what they have on hand.
